Summer 2025 Positions
Crossroads Theatre is hiring for three summer positions. Priority will be given to applicants who live in or have a relationship with Weston or the York-South Weston area. The Marketing Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator will work with us to support our 2025 Summer in the Park festival (August 20-24, 2025). The Archival Assistant will work with us to support the preservation and collation of Crossroads Theatre’s 37 year history.
Crossroads Theatre strongly encourages folks to apply who reflect the cultural communities in and around Weston. Marketing Assistant
June 23 - August 30, 2025 (10 weeks)
30 hours per week, $19.20/hour
Full time, hybrid (online and in person at Artscape Weston Common)
Duties
Reporting to the Artistic Director and Artistic & Access Producer, the Marketing Assistant will support all relevant marketing activities and administrative tasks for Crossroads Theatre. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
Support in all marketing related activities at Crossroads Theatre including:
Newsletter
Writing copy for website updates
Creation of social media posts
Writing and editing copy for marketing materials
Social media marketing
Work closely with the production team to complete marketing related tasks for the 2025 Summer in the Park festival:
Assist with writing and editing copy for marketing materials
Assist with developing a social media marketing plan
Assist with and execution of a publicity plan
Assist with outreach
Our Ideal Candidate
Lives in or has a connection to the Weston community
Has some digital or graphic design experience
Has a strong work ethic and can work independently
Is collaborative and likes working in teams
Has a strong interest in social media
Has a strong interest in theatre and/or the arts
Requirements
This position is funded by the Canadian Government through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:
(a) be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
(c) have a valid SIN and is legally entitled to work in Canada
*Please note under the program requirements International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Volunteer & FOH Coordinator
June 23 - August 30, 2025 (10 weeks)
30 hours per week, $19.20/hour
Full time, hybrid (online and in person at Artscape Weston Common)
Duties
Reporting to the Artistic Director and Artistic & Access Producer, the Volunteer & FOH Coordinator will act as the main contact for all volunteers for Crossroad Theatre’s Summer in the Park / productions in the York-South Weston area in 2025. This includes:
Supporting the further development of volunteer on-boarding and training, including coordinating and participating in accessibility training for volunteer ushers.
Working in collaboration with the Production Manager on all Front of House related tasks for Summer in the Park.
Assisting with community outreach activities (for youth, adults, and seniors in northwest Toronto), including organizing talk backs, community events, and other events connected to the Summer in the Park season.
Assisting with building and tracking community relationships (with local audiences, schools, businesses, and organizations), and building/training a base of volunteers
Being the main Front of House presence at shows in Memorial Park and managing a team of volunteer ushers
Our Ideal Candidate
Lives in or has a connection to the Weston community
Has great written and verbal communication skills
Is organized and comfortable working with teams of volunteers
Has some digital or graphic design experience
Has a strong work ethic and can work independently
Has a strong interest in theatre and the arts

Archival Assistant
June 23 - August 8, 2025 (7 weeks)
30 hours per week, $19.20/hour
Full time, hybrid (online and in person at Artscape Weston Common)
Duties
Reporting to the Artistic Director and Artistic & Access Producer, the Archival Assistant will support the preservation and collation of Crossroads Theatre’s 37 year history. This will involve taking ownership of special projects throughout summer 2025. This includes:
Organizing the company’s digital file database
Organizing, documenting, and cataloging archival materials from past education programs and productions
Creating proposals for cost-effective and pragmatic database solutions
Creating a digital database of physical assets, including both audio/visual and printed materials
Organizing the organization’s books and creating a lending library
Working with the Production Manager to create a digital database of all production equipment
Compiling statistics and other data related to the archives.
Assisting with other tasks as needed, such as developing exhibitions.
Our Ideal Candidate

Has great written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills are crucial
Has a strong work ethic and can work independently
Has an interest in theatre and the arts
Relevant experience in archives, libraries, or records management can also be a valuable asset.
